Gwen Stefani was in a band?
The singer had to explain as much to her son now that No Doubt is set to reunite on the Coachella stage.
Before she was a solo artist, a judge on "The Voice" and married Blake Shelton, the Grammy-winning artist led the rock band with guitarist Tom Dumont, bassist Tony Kanal and drummer Adrian Young.
Stefani told People in an interview published Friday that the reception to the reunion news has made her "completely overwhelmed."
"I definitely have that little thing in your stomach where you're like, 'Oh my gosh! What?'" she said. "It's going to be amazing."
But one fan left confused by the response was Stefani's youngest son, Apollo, 9.
"I had to literally lay in bed with Apollo and he’s like, 'But mom, what is Coachella? Everyone’s saying it. What is this? It sounds like it’s a big deal,'" she told the outlet. "So we had to watch the 'Don’t Speak' video. And he’s like, 'But wait, which one was your boyfriend?' It was so weird and so funny."
Stefani, 54, dated Kanal from 1987 to 1994. Kanal ended their relationship, but the former couple were able to remain friends as famously noted in "Don't Speak."
Some younger fans of Stefani might have missed her rock band days — the group hasn't performed together since 2015.
"That's how much time’s gone by because he's going to be 10! It's just another miracle and a blessing. And it was surreal for me," she told the magazine. "I feel like we're in the future and lightning just struck and (No Doubt) is like, 'Here we are!'"
Coachella 2024 lineup: Lana Del Rey, Doja Cat and Tyler, the Creator other headliners
Lana Del Rey, Doja Cat and Tyler, the Creator are also set to headline Coachella's 2024 festival.
The 23rd installment of the festival returns to the Empire Polo Grounds in Indio, California, on the weekends of April 12-14 and April 19-21.
Other performers on the bill include Ice Spice, Sublime, Grimes, Lil Uzi Vert, J Balvin, Peso Pluma, Reneé Rapp, Jhené Aiko, Victoria Monét, Deftones, Bizarrap and Lil Yachty.
How to get Coachella 2024 tickets
